The Texas Medical Center is the largest medical complex in the world, home to major hospitals, medical schools and a host of other medical facilities. These include Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center, Ben Taub General Hospital, Houston Methodist Hospital, Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center, Michael E. DeBakey Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Texas Children’s Hospital and The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center.
ProPublica and the Houston Chronicle have published a story about how the heart transplant program at Baylor St. Luke’s, renowned historically for its pioneering advances, has among the worst survival rates in the country. We would like to hear from people who have experience with the transplant program, as well as other hospitals in the Texas Medical Center — employees, patients, contractors, visitors. Tell us about your role and what you’ve observed, seen and heard. (We are not asking employees to share private medical information about patients.)
If you’d prefer to share tips and documents anonymously, you can send a message via Signal to 347-244-2134 or other secure ways to ProPublica and the Chronicle.
